I bought a discontinued CVA Scout 20 gauge turkey gun today on impulse. It's a gun I've wanted for some time but haven't been able to find due to CVA discontinuing them. The gun is threaded and drilled and tapped so there won't be as much to have done as my 870 youth.

I already dropped her off to be dipped in Original Bottomland. Ill put a Bushnell trs-25 on it and find a good choke. She will be ready after that.

Super light and compact with a 22 inch barrel. It will make a nice mountain gun as well as a good gun for my kids one day.

I'll add pictures once she is complete.

Great grab Mark, where'd you find her? On a side note, that could be me in the pic as I always run around in those color Crocs and Berkley fishing cargo shorts with zippers similar to those in the pic. You have great fashion sense. :tu:

Where you having it dipped?

IronHorse Gunworks in Loretto. They dipped my 870 and did a good job.

Thanks, Andy! I picked her up at Lawson's in Loretto. I'm down in Lawrenceburg visiting my in-laws. They actually have 1 more in stock and I almost picked it up as well. They had CVA's new Hunter in 20 ga ($180) but the Scout has a thicker barrel, better stocks, is already drilled and tapped and is threaded for chocks for $259.

Any self-respecting man has a solid pair of cargo shorts and Crocs in his attire!

If you "men" are too week to carry a 12ga, please stay out of the "mountains" :)
:D
You made me think of a "funny" remembrance of something my Grandfather pointed out on a dove hunt, maybe when I was 11 years old, starting out my hunting with an old 20 ga that was several times my age.

My Grandfather was maybe at the time in his mid-60's, and for his entire life, which had included hunting nearly everything one could hunt in Tennessee, he had done nearly all of it with a Sweet 16 gauge Browning. That hunting included extensive waterfowl hunting. I believe at the time he was on his 3rd Sweet 16, and had numerous "extra barrels" of various lengths & chokes, as this pre-dated the sleek choke tubes of today.

Perhaps seeing that I seemed a little disappointed to only be carrying a little 20 ga, he pointed out all the big-framed fellows (one of them my uncle) who were all carrying either 20ga or 16 ga shotguns on that dove hunt.
Then he said, "See all those little runty fellows? They have to carry 12 gauges.
You don't need a big ole 12 ga. They're for little guys."

You can have your "manly" 12 gauge all day long. Us powder puffs will be climbing the mountains with our 20s! [emoji3]

 I'll admit, I have toted my old pump 410 a few times each season on longer walks :) Although I have hunted with an H&R 12ga hammer gun a few times in my career, I don't feel comfortable not having at least one quick follow up shot at my disposal, regardless of gauge. I feel I owe that to the Gobblers I hunt. Been many times when that quick second shot has been the difference between killing him and that unbarable feeling , at least for me, of knowing I've crippled one up ;)

Well the truth comes out! Do you buy your shells in the tampon aisle at the store? [emoji3]

Just kidding. I killed with a 410 a couple years ago. I love the challenge of smaller gauges.

:) I can take it. Sucker is nice to hunt with though. Feel I can hold in position forever with that gun.

Holy crap, I was setting there looking at that first picture, thinking that looks just like lawsons rack and floor lol. I wish I'd have known you were in there, I would have driven out to shake hands with you. I'm only about 10 min. From there, and I've picked that same gun up off that rack numerous times

Dang! I wish you would have. I spent several days in Lawrenceburg and would have loved to meet you. It's a sweet little rig as I'm sure you know. There's one more if you still want one. I dropped her off at IronHorse to get dipped. We are shooting another wedding over Father's Day weekend and I plan to pick it up then. Maybe we could meet up then.
