What is the effective range for the .410, using TSS. At 5 lbs, it would be like carrying a toy around the woods.
From my research. Guys are comfortable out to 40 yards with them.
Guaranteed 40 yard gun with the right TSS shot/pattern. The downside (to me) is a lot of .410 guns weigh as much, or nearly as much as a comparable 20G, for less pattern density and less killing range. I'll likely kill a few birds with a .410 for the added challenge and to say I did, but I do not get the newest love affair with the .410s.

I'm kinda where you are. I just want one because lol. I've only used my 20 exclusively for 6 years except I'd break the 12 out on very bad weather days. They popped up on our distributors sites a few days ago but none in stock

Picked up my 410 bottomland today. While there, they received 5 more bottomland and are willing to ship to your FFL. Price was $199 plus shipping. If anyone needs their contact pm me.

What's funny... i shoot a 835! Lol. Tough skin tho. I'm good. It was funny.
That wasn't directed at you specifically. More so the whole trendy hipster 410 fan club.

I've never shot an 835, and if they kick any harder than my 870 super mag with 3.5 inch hevishot, I don't want to!

As if the numbers of crippled Gobblers each season isn't high enough, now we get this. Nothing more irresponsible than shooting at a Gobbler with a "single shot" 410 shotgun past 30 yards, regardless of loads. This being said, I myself hunt with a "pump" 410 shotgun a few times each season, keeping my shots under 30 steps. A quick follow up shot, unfortunately, has been necessary on more than one occasion, as it sometimes is with any gauge. Killing turkeys with a 410 shotgun requires extreme restraint, something 99.9% of todays so called turkey hunters do not have. A pump or double barrel 410 is only a mere ounce or two heavier than a single shot for all the girly men out there.

Cow I like you and normally agree with you as far as turkey hunting goes but most of that is just nonsense. I agree there's a lot of stupid people but 99.9% is a stretch and if I was you I'd hunt or hang around better turkey hunters cause they're out there. The same uneducated people that were shooting at and crippling birds 50+ yards with their 12 or big 10 with lead are still going to do it. You obviously don't understand tungsten so I'm not going there but if the pattern is there at 40 it'll kill at 40 all day no matter the gauge. Weight wise yeah it's not much less than a Benelli 20 but I doubt guys are wanting them to replace their full time turkey gun.

I'll drop it to an even 98%, but will go no lower :) As for "understanding" tss, I understand perfectly well. I have a pic from last year somewhere in my posts, that shows an extremely "wicked" pattern of tss produced by myself, family, and friends for our 410's. That plate was at 30 steps. I come from a long line of "fully restrained" 410 Turkey killers. After seeing that pattern and penetration, we still would never attempt a shot past that distance, even with a quick follow up shot. To attempt shooting past 40 "yards", with any "single shot" shotgun, regardless of load, is irresponsible and unethical in my eyes, period. Would still be willing to bet that more Gobblers will be crippled up because of these guns, than will actually be killed cleanly. to each there own.

I can agree to disagree. Everybody has or should have their own limitations. Happy hunting this year!

I can respect that. I just don't believe the single shot 410 shot gun was ever meant to be a 40 yard turkey gun, as well as any other gauge single shot, regardless of load. 40 yards is a long shot, especially in the woods. Are they capable of killing at that distance with tss, more times than not, yes, with a clean shot, but I still believe it is irresponsible to attempt it with out a quick back up shot, just in case. Boils down to personal ethics and setting limitations, like you said. Unfortunately, I just don't have much confidence in todays turkey hunting crowd to impose those limitations. Good luck to you, and safe hunting.

X2 on 75% of todays new turkey hunting crowd..
410's wont be allowed legally for turkey hunting much longer. TSS wont be far behind in a lot of places and 9s are already illegal in some states....
Just my opinion....Lots of irresponsible people in the woods these days......notice is didn't say "hunters".

Stopped by a gun store this morning and had them check on one for me. None in stock, but claimed they could get me one. So just maybe my search has come to a head.

Well the gun store came through for me. Picked one up yesterday evening on the way home from work. Hope to pattern it for us in the next few days.

What load are you looking at?

After two failed attempts to purchase one on Gunbroker and a contemplated 2 hour drive to Huntsville with no guarantee that it would be there I found one in a gun shop in Pennsylvania and had it transferred here. I picked it up the other day and my ammo order from APEX was delivered today.
Hope to get to shoot it some maybe this weekend.
