This has been probably covered time and time again. Anyways i am in the market for a new cell cam i currently have the spypoint link series and not too happy with it here lately use to work pretty good until it stopped transmitting photos last night.

Don't use cell cams. Waste of money for what I use cams for.
i used my spypoint to help me harvest a doe opening of bow this year that irritated me last year the ole' nanny finally got it. she got to where it was predictable of where she was gonna come out of and setup to where i could get a shot at her.

I only use trail-cams for collecting population data (photo census). I've never used them to "scout." However, trail-cams have taught me so much about deer movement and behavior that they have certainly helped me kill more deer from an educational standpoint, not a "patterning a deer" standpoint. In fact, in the situations I hunt, trail-cams have taught me deer can't be patterned. Although I'm sure in other habitat/terrain situations, they can be.

i understand i really do this was a public land field back in the sticks she always seemed to come from a 10ft place at the edge of the field so i kept watching it and figured out where to place a stand at.

probably really dumb luck it happened though.

Monitoring big traditional scrapes with cams has taught me just how infrequently a particular buck will use a particular scrape. In most cases, maybe only once or twice per week. That's not much of a pattern. In fact, I usually kill a buck I have on cam FAR from where I get his pictures most frequently.

you will need to expand on this. now i am worried

Why is that? The greatest thing about them is you can stay out of the area for longer periods of time.
I despise regular cams now. Hate having to intrude into an undisturbed area. Nothing like getting a pic of a mature buck emailed to you about bedtime to give you incredible dreams

I put out cameras to see whats moving, whats making rubs etc. I live 1.2 hours from my farm. Cell cams are good for poachers.
