I thinking about putting a helix 7 on my John boat. Will it handle the rough ride vibrating ?

Mount it on a ram mount with a rubber shock absorbing pad between the base of the mount and boat and you should be fine

I just mounted one on my flat bottom. I have not had the chance to try it out yet.

I mounted it on a ram mount on top of the drivers seat pedestal . Without rubber under it.... Should I put a piece under the mount? I have some red rubber gasket material about 3/16ths thick. I guess it couldn't hurt .

Another secure mount Id suggest is Balzout.
I have 3 units mounted on my aluminum boat with Balzout mounts and no issue on KY Lake what so ever.
