I applied this year with an outfitter in unit 51 and unit 52. If I draw it will probably be a one and done trip for me.

Honestly I quit applying for NM when they dropped the NR unguided pool down to 2% of available tags, yet still required the purchase of a license annually.

Some of the draws just don't make economical sense. I like NM that they are random draw every year, but still the odds for NR need to be decent for me. WY has a point system (and it's changed/changing) but atleast you can gather points and after X yrs. Other states with pt systems, as a NR you might as well buy Powerball tickets.

I drew same unit as 2022 again, archery elk. About 4 percent odds. 2 out of 3 . Need to buy some lottery tickets. Gotta have your name in as many hats as you can.

If you're going for elk, or deer, your chances for bagging 1 are pretty darn good. I live 30 mile from the NM border. Son-in-law and grandson hunt elk and deer yearly and success is really good.
