New turkey gun!!

The 835 and 935 are some of the best old school great patterning turkey guns I've ever seen for the good price, and also reliable in my experience. Yes they big and heavy and kick, but put some Long beard 6s or basically any good 3-1/2" magnum load in number 6 shot with the factory turkey choke they come with. Shoots really good patterns with about anything. I killed a lot of birds with the 935 but recently changed to a Franchi Affinity.

Don't worry about the kick, you want feel it with a gobbler. Also shoot it two or three times at the range and see what you like then don't shoot it no more. That's what I did. The kick is bad, but it ain't that bad.

I do sometimes miss that ole nasty mossberg of mine.

I have the 835 and the 935 but like everyone says, the 835 will kick hard and I mean hard. When I shoot the 835 I alwayshold my left hand holding the forearm and it will almost eject the empty hull by itself!!Like everyone, you dont notice it when shooting a gobbler but paper is another thing. Both my Mossbergs shoot a great pattern with the Winchester Longbeard shells!! :tu:

I got rid of my 835 because of that, but I thought is was because of my short arms. It would just about eject the shell after firing. Good to know it wasn't me but it did kick pretty good. I never even attempted 3.5 out of it.

I've heard others that say the same!!

Mine (835 tactical) does that 2 out of 3 times with 3.5" 2 oz longbeards. Mcarbo trigger job cut trigger pull down by at least 50%. Sighting in is brutal every single year when I check to make sure it's still on. I too have short arms, but I'm not complaining about eliminating a step....just push forward to put another shell in :D I have no reason to switch to a lighter gun/caliber/ammo because my setup SIMPLY WORKS with great success.

I have an 835 12g ulti-mag. It will kill the heck out of some turkeys, but your shoulder too, as others have mentioned. Mine also basically ejects the shell on the recoil. I have a primos jelly head choke for mine
