New vocalization

I have heard 3 times, all in the same year and I believe all from the same deer. The 3rd time I heard it, I finally was able to kill him. It made the hair stand up on the back of my neck every time. This is the buck that was doing it.

What's it called and why is it made? In essence, when/why does a buck make this vocalization?
I posted a video last year. That buck actually charged a doe as he made the growl, roar, or long grunt, whatever you want to call it. There were other bucks and does around. Definitely a dominance vocal, body language displayed dominance when I have seen it.
