Hey guys,

thinking about getting a bow, and I have little to no knowledge of shooting a bow. I did take archery while in college, but we shot recurve bows.

Anyways, I have found a local guy with a PSE Whitetail Obsession for sale. All the reviews I have read are good, and most mention that it is a great bow for beginners. Anyone have any opinions or any other suggestions. Thanks

I myself am a PSE fan, but you should try out different bows to make sure of several things:
1 - fit/comfort of bow
2 - be wise about any used equipment, there could be a hairline crack in the limbs that the current owner doesn't know = no warranty and possible damage to yourself.
3 - do study on all your choices - you will find different perks in the bows you look at.
I am looking at getting the Diamond Razor Edge package for my son who is 17, and the Bear Archery Apprentice 2 bow for my 12 year old. Good luck to your choosing, and welcome to the new addiction of archery,,, you won't be dissapointed!

first go to an Archery shop. have them check your draw length.shoot as many bows as you can. You will start to feel the difference in what you like and don't like. don't overbow yourself with the weight. a 40 pound recurve will kill a deer every day of the week with the right shot placement. Most bows are good nowdays so you really can not go wrong as long as you are set up correctly. its mostly personal choice and price. Good luck. Once you get your bow practice and go find a local 3-D club.

a PSE stinger is a good entry level bow that shoots good. Also the bass pro redhead kronik is a good entry level bow,its a bowtech diamond with bass pro's name on it.

Great advice! Especially getting fit properly and shooting different bows. Welcome to the sport!
