Congrats
Congratulations!Headed to my favorite stand on my lease today for the first time this season and was in the tree by 1pm. Had two button bucks on me ten minutes later. About 30 minutes after that I saw a deer through the woods moving away from me so grabbed the grunt tube and made a quick call. It turned and came right at me into the field and I discovered it was a small cowhorn spike. As the spike moved across the field I was watching it when I briefly glanced back to my left and this buck was standing 45 yards away in the field looking dead at me. Shot him right in the chest and he bolted for the woods. Gave him a few minutes and climbed down to look for blood. Blood was easy to find and plentiful. Deer made it about 40-45 yards inside the woods and piled up.
This deer is a solid 8. No width really but good mass and length on the main beams. Very happy with this buck and my guess is that he's a 3.5 year old. At least 140-150 lbs dressed. All I could do to get him loaded up on the hitch haul. The entire hunt lasted 45 minutes. Short and sweet ain't so bad. View attachment 120133
