Nick The Man Saban

Hope he doesn't go the Woody Hayes, Bobby Bowden, or God forbid the Joe Paterno route.
. Wishful thinking on the haters but I don't think the man has a ounce of slant in him . He burns all the evil inside him on the football field against the opposition!

I'm guessing there's a 50% chance that he will actually fulfill that contract. He's not young (65) and a lot can change in 8 years. He's already approximately the 4th oldest coach in college football.

X2
I could be wrong but I don't see him sticking around that long.
If/when they start going down hill they will run him off.

Not sure what "slant" is, but I'm not hating on Nick. I grew up just down the road from Kent State. Maybe it's just because my older sister's time on KSU overlapped with Nick's and I still remember fondly the glory year of Golden Flashes football capped off by the Tangerine Bowl loss, but I actually (and honestly) have a fondness for Coach Saban. It's just that if he does finish out that extension, there are many examples of great coaches growing old in the tooth and losing control of themselves and/or their programs.

I hope he hangs around, would like to beat him as many times possible!
we need a coach that "can" beat him

*most talented vol team since 2006
*6 players drafted in 4 rounds
*6 signed as FA?

and yet we lost to vandy, sc and bama in knoxville 49-10...we aint even close

Will take more than a better coach. Since 2012, Alabama has had 49 players drafted by NFL teams. Tennessee has had 14. Basically half of those UT players drafted in that time span went in 2017 so Jones is making progress, but it's an almost impossible task. The only schools who can compare to Alabama on the field and in the draft are Clemson, Florida State, and Ohio State. In terms of the draft, Florida, LSU and Michigan might also be close.

Its crazy. With his 4 million dollar signing bonus his base salary and various incentives like winning a bowl or the NC championship he could make over 12 million dollars this year.

And, with the dynasty he has created, he would still be a bargain at 12 million.

I still want to know why they decided to not show up and play in the championship game last year. LOL
Still boggles my mind.

I didn't see the game since I was on travel, but the last I heard from my wife's text was that AL was winning 26-10 (or close to it). Got in around 2 AM. Imagine my surprise the following morning at the loss. :(

Sounds like to me that they need a new quarterback. What, 7 three and outs? WTF?

Yeah their quarterback never impressed me at all.
I didn't expect much from him anyway.

The defense not showing up really shocked me more than anything.

Man, you guys are tough and I'm an Alabama hater with the best of them. The kid lead his team to the national championship game as a true freshman. He turned a broken play into a 40 plus yard TD run that would have won the game, had he not ironically given the best player in college football last year a minute and a half of time remaining to lead his team to the win. As for the defense, I think it was 8 straight 3 and outs (before that broken play) and any defense is going to be gassed at that point in the game if the offense can't get first downs and then happens to score quickly.
