Nico - NIL

Belicheck has something to prove. He might go out on a limb. My guess is Nico is damaged goods and comes with baggage. I would pass on him. He would make a good back up QB somewhere.

Ive never seen a vol player leave the program and be successful anywhere else in college ball. They leave and are just behind the learning curve by 1,2 or three years and can never catch up. vol qb in the NFL with the exception of Peyton Manning have been just horrible. Josh Dobbs just got kicked from SF 49s. I think this is his 11th NFL franchise ???? Now with the Patriots. Lets see how long that last? Hendon Hooker looks destine to follow in footsteps. Joe Milton is on a dead cat bounce and at Dallas Cowboys. You can see where that is going?????. NO WHERE.
I may be mistaken but I think I remember a certain Tennessee linebacker that transferred to bama just a few SHORT years ago and started that very season then went to the NFL. O by the way, Tennessee waxed that tail for them before he left

You are correct. Also, Hurts was kicked to the curb by the democrat nick saban but his career has flourished since getting great QB coaching from Lincoln Riley. Boomer Sooners waxed that gump tail to.

It doesn't matter if you yell Go Dawgs, War Eagle, Hook 'Em, Go Irish, or Roll Tide…

No matter the colors you wear or the stadium you call home, every college football fan should be standing with Josh Heupel today.

Because this weekend, he didn't just make a coaching decision — he made a stand.

A stand for what college football used to be, and what it still could be if enough of us care.

He stood up for crisp Saturday mornings in Knoxville, when you're walking into a tailgate with your kids — full of pride, tradition, and orange everywhere you look.

He stood up for late Saturday nights under the lights in Neyland, with your best friends beside you, watching a game that feels bigger than life.

He stood up for the culture this sport has created — one built on loyalty, legacy, and love for something deeper than money.

Guys like Peyton Manning didn't wear the Power T for a paycheck. Hendon Hooker didn't stick around for a bidding war. They played for Tennessee — for what it meant.

And this isn't a criticism of the player, but the system that allows & promotes this behavior. You were warned this was coming. That NIL would tilt the balance. That the game we love would start to lose its soul. And here we are — where the highest bidder can win, and jumping ship is just part of the process.

But this weekend, Josh Heupel said enough.

He drew the line. He chose Tennessee over transactions. Culture over contracts.

So whether you love Tennessee or love to beat them — respect the man who stood up for every fan who's ever poured their heart into this game.

Thank you, Coach Heupel.
For standing tall.
For reminding us why we fell in love with this sport in the first place.

Roll Tide. Go Vols. Go College Football.

Besides NIL, it's the playoff too that is ruining college football. Why? Because in the past you could have co- champions, you had great interest in winning your conference championship, you had great interest in bowl games and what bowl your team would go to. You has set bowls per conference, Sugar for the SEC , Rose for the Pac 10, Cotton for the Southwest etc. You had meaningful rivalries between teams, conferences and regions of the country. And most of all you had a system of crowning a champion that caused controversy, and that kept the fan bases talking all year, it kept college football on everybody's radar cause if you didn't win and somebody else did there was disagreement and that kept it front and center. It also put huge chips on the shoulders of players, coaches, teams, schools, conferences, and regions cause they thought they got dissed.
Now, as it's said, it's decided on the field, it's the only thing to play for. And as the teams drop away from contention the interest drops too.
I'm a UT fan( although not like I once was) and after they got put out of the playoff I quit watching, I can't say who was the champion was last year, in the past that would never be the case cause on January 1 by 10 pm everybody knew who it was and the 9 months of arguing could begin.

Saban didn't say this. It's from a Nick Saban fan page.
I wish he had said it though.

I haven't posted on this yet but I have to say I like the way Tennessee handled the situation. Heupel said the decision was made when Nico didn't show up for practice. He also thanked Nico for what he contributed to Tennessee. That's classy.
I admire Heupel for the way he handles things like this.
Nico is a good qb but not great. Maybe he'll grow to be great maybe not. Either way he isn't there yet. If he was a great qb he might got away with some of what he did and maybe not.
From what I've read he's not acting like a good leader for the team and Tennessee will be better off without him.

Not saying this idiot knows what he is doing not to mention the fact he is no Travis, Jayden or Caleb by any means. With that said.

The last 3 Heisman winners DID pull a power play the last season or two seasons of their career to advance from bottom feeder schools to schools that could get them to the next level. So if the fall out from him quitting like he did and turning his back on the vols does not prevent him from getting on at a big name school that can get him in playoff contention or Heisman contention then he has made a disaster out of his NFL eligibility. Most likely went from a 3rd rounder or 4th rounder to undrafted free agent with this stunt.

Here are the Stats.
2024 Heisman winner Travis Hunter in 2022 Plays for Jackson State then in 2023-2024 Transfers to Colorado upping his value.
2023 Winner Jayden Daniels in 2019-2021 played for Arizona State then in 2022-2023 Transfers to LSU
2022 Winner Caleb Williams in 2021 Played for Oklahoma and in 2022 and 2023 played for USC

I believe he led the Vols to a victory over bama last year.

Gotta get your jabs in on the Vols huh? You can ruin a good thread in about half a post.

That "bottom feeder" school has beaten "your" school (I put your in quotation marks because I doubt you graduated from junior high) 2 of the last 3 years, and made the playoff last year. Where was alabama?

Gumps were getting beat by Candy, Vols, Sooners, etc …… will there 18 yr old receiver still paint his nails this year? Or was that just a 17 yr old thing.

I went to all that trouble to pull the stats of the last 3 Heisman winners to lay a foundation to what could be the thought process behind Nico lava leaving vols .
