nitro shotgun shells

I shot one last year on opening day that a friend gave me.
Awesome for sure.

I might buy a few this year just for the heck of it.

Final Flight got the Nitro shells in last week. Better hurry and get a couple. $ 7.10 per 3 1//2" 2 7/16 oz 4x5x7 shell.

Got mine ordered this morning from wing supply. Called Nitro and the lady told me they were 3 1/2 weeks behind on orders.

not worth it to me when the cheaper shells perform just as well with the right choke shell combo 8 dollars a shot are you kidding me.

No doubt cheaper shells will kill turkeys but don't think they will perform "just as well" as Nitros.

dead is dead???

Seriously?? $7 a shot? That's crazy imo. I have shot and will continue to shoot Federal. People get too caught up in mentality that spending more money on equipment will guarantee that you will make a harvest. How much better can they really be? At 40 yds I put 50 pellets in the kill zone with my 835 shooting federal 3.5 6 shot with a Primos Jelly Head Choke. Down range effectiveness with 6 shot is an issue, although I killed one last year at 68 steps. If you practice with your equipment, you will know the effectivness and limitations. Sorry for the rant but I have two kids that I am teaching that scouting and knowing your equipment is what hunting is all about.

Why does it matter what/how much who spends.....? All those tax dollars go to the same places..... to each his own, but we are all hunters!!!!

8 dollars a shell is like paying 160 dollars for box of rifle shells. how many could justify that?
For some people its a hobby...
There are a bunch of guys on this site that like to shoot little bitty groups with their rifles and pay a fortune on reloading supplies, gunsmith work, high dollar scopes, and what not....can they justify that when they can kill a deer with factory ammo and factory rifle?
Folks enjoy diffrent things and you shouldnt worry yourself about what others spend their money on :)

Swamphunter, that scope belonged to my now deseased father who passed it down to me.and I will pass down to my son.I see your point though, if it applied. Good luck this season swamphunter, hope you limit out.

dead is dead

If that's how you think, why not take 2 3/4 squirell loads and a modified choke? That will kill a turkey at 10 yards and he will be "dead". Some of us like to maximize our guns effectiveness. 8 bucks a shell is cheap insurance if I never have to feel the pain of watching a hit bird run off to become coyote food.

Ok no one said anything about shooting squirrel shells at turkeys.
I see your point in trying to make your gun as lethal as possible to cut down on the chance of wounding a bird and I agree with you there.
BUT
When I can go to wally world and buy a $7 box of shells and kill em just as dead as your nitros why pay the extra $$$ for the nitros.
I guess its what different people want to spend their money on. to each his own! :)

Santa Clause is the only way I can afford Nitros. I love them though and will say, A box of ten will last you two seasons. Last year, I shot two shells to see how they patterned ( 20 yds, and 40 yds). I killed three long beards last year ( 20 steps, 10 steps, and 43 steps) with one shell for each bird. I have five shells left for from last year, plus I got ten new ones. As long as Santa keeps bringing them, I'll keep using them. When Santa dries up. Its back to the Winchester Supremes.
