Posting this link. Short video of my two elk hunts I had this year, archery draw tags on public land. My cousin and buddy tagged along as always. Great trip, one of the best so far. If you have not done this yet do it. Disclaimer - these were great draw areas and not general tags. My NV tag took 17 years to draw and was still less than 1 percent odds, but someone has draw. If you have the desire and are able to, try to make it happen. Do not put off hunting in the west, we are getting older and the mtns are not getting any shorter.

Awesome video. And awesome hunt. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciated watching you stand over the bull after the kill. I haven't yet punched my first DIY tag but I am working on it. I imagine it will be unlike any hunting experience I have ever had.

I am glad everyone likes it. Was not planning on this being an actual video so I did not talk about myself and "my crew" for 20 minutes. Lol. It really will be hard to beat this year. However I have spent at least 30/35 days trying to kill a good whitetail and now down to few days left, I guess it has to even out my year. We will see. Iam off from work last four days of the season so maybe.

Ever since I started elk hunting, I find myself not as "mad" at the deer as I used to be. I haven't been deer hunting much at all this year. Do you find yourself not caring as much about deer hunting since you started hunting out west? Or is it just me?

I am not as serious about local deer the last 7/8 years or so. I killed a huge whitetail in 2016 and since then I pass a lot of bucks. It took awhile to build up points to get quality draw tags every year. I do so much research on the west now, I am pretty into it and spend about 3/4 weeks every year out there. My cousin , buddy and I do all do separate apps in 9 states for good tags if someone draws we all go. It is the only way to consistently have good hunting, I could care less about having the tag I just want to go. We/ I are about 18 -19 years into most of those states now and are having good hunts ( will luck like NM ) sprinkled in on some years. It is not cheap, but my little bit of lawn mowing On the side still covers most of it.
