11/7 drove from NW TN to Nashville on hwy and interstate and no road kill? Rut seems way late
I'm in SW KY and haven't paid attention to the sides of the roads but I know they are running like crazy here the last couple of days.
Bucks both young and older are cruising around night and day over here in Edmonson county. Couple days ago had a big buck laying with a doe by a camera for over 3 hours while another big buck was just standing around. Sure he was locked on her. Yesterday had another shooter buck and doe on a firelane at 10am. Riding SxS out to adjust a stand saw them in the firelane. I just shut if off and coasted up to about 30 yards from them. They just moved off the firelane and he ran her in circles for a bit before moving off. Saw roadkills yesterday on back roads between Mammoth Cave and Leitchfield.Saw several on I-24 last weekend on the way to KY.
Sounds promising. I'm leaving today to hunt in Christian county for a week. Drove up last Friday to do some work around the camp and didn't see a single deer dead or alive there and back. And that was the back roads, 79 to Dover, then through Bumpus Mills into Hoptown.Getting a few here in Clarksville area, and a few up I-24 when I drove to Nashville. Going to Murfreesboro tomorrow and plan on keeping my eyes peeled.
I was going to say the same thing. I'm on the other end of the county and go into Hamilton frequently and there are lots of roadkill deer, with new ones seemingly popping up every dayHere on Hwy 27 in Rhea and Roane county there are quite a few dead ones. At my house where we have quite a few deer I've watched a couple of young ones chasing after the does and one decent 8 point following after them. But that's not unusual here, seems like the rut is in full swing about 2 weeks after the start of muzzy.
I believe you're right especially with this rain but usually it would have kicked off by now.Carnage starts next week.
Hard to miss in KY because they don't pick em up.I'm in SW KY and haven't paid attention to the sides of the roads but I know they are running like crazy here the last couple of days.
