No SEC teams in AP poll top 5

Re: No SEC teams in AP poll top 6

Wonder if we will have any in the Playoffs when it matters?

Re: No SEC teams in AP poll top 6

There is a better than 50-50 chance that no SEC team makes the playoffs this year.

A one-loss Alabama probably would, but other than that, it seems unlikely. The SEC East winner will probably have two losses. If they were to win the SEC championship, they won't jump into the picture.

Re: No SEC teams in AP poll top 6

TCU and Baylor will knock the other out of the playoffs along with Michigan st and Ohio, there is plenty of room for any sec 1 loss teams

Re: No SEC teams in AP poll top 6

It depends on the one loss team. Only a one loss team that wins its conference championship. If Bama loses another game, a two loss SEC team isn't worthy. If Bama's second loss is the SEC championship, it isn't worthy (and that could end up being a rematch with UGA, and rematches seem to rarely go the way of the first game). Same for any of the other conferences. If OSU loses to MSU or Michigan or Northwestern, it doesn't deserve to get into the CFP (same for MSU). It's better to lose to an OOC opponent or opponent from another division than to an in-division opponent. Bama's loss to Ole Miss is worst than Ole Miss's loss to UF. If Bama and Ole Miss win out, who goes to the SEC championship? Ole Miss. Same for UCLA's loss to Ariz St is worse than USC's loss to Stanford while Arizona St's loss to TAM and Stanford's loss to Northwestern are better yet. I think Baylor and TCU will take care of one of themselves, but OU could take care of the other and the other OU. Big 12 could have another mess and wouldn't it be hilarious if they snookered themselves again! It's going to get stranger and stranger every weekend.

Well if Indiana can hang to beat the champs then Vandy is surely able to hang with them. Heck even UFS could hang with Vandy

Vandy is not a good team but I really expect them to surprise an sec team. Sc and maybe even the vols. I also expect them to drop the Houston game. Vandy has been in every game they've played in so far and they have held three of the top five offenses in the country well below their average. Vandy has been showing improvement every week and if they can somehow figure out a way to get some points out of the offense,... oh forget it. Who am I kidding. Vandy sux! :)

Haters gonna hate (and gonna sit home on January 1 and watch the Buckeyes).

Maybe Ohio State's schedule, from top to bottom, isn't very good. Maybe the B1G does suck. But since I don't rely on B1G affiliation as some personal identity or affirmation, and since the quality of the league won't be what determines Ohio State's postseason home, I could care less what $EC fans, and most especially $EC fans of bad teams (Vols) or teams with early season success soon to go down the drain (UF), have to say. It's not Ohio State's fault Illinois hasn't been any good since the days of Red Grange or that Ohio State has better players or coaches than everybody else.

Can you imagine Vol Nation if Vandy beats the Vols this year? It would be a meltdown of epic proportions.

I do so because of the $EC "cost of attendance" or "COA" payments to athletes that NCAA allows, but that are set at a level by $EC schools indicating that the cost of living in Knoxville or Gainesville or Tuscaloosa (to use just 3 examples) is higher than the cost of living in Los Angeles or Honolulu or College Park, MD for example.

You are wrong there. The selecting committee will consider Strength of Schedule as well as Oh States rocky performance against teams they should be destroying.

At this point, I don't think OH St. deserves a top 6 spot. Maybe 7th or 8th. We will see what the Selection Committee thinks soon enough, but I would be surprised if they were selected among the top 4.
