Back during the market hunting years on Reelfoot,
my Granddad said they were a frequent meal at their big hunting camps @ Walnut Log.
Said best way to cook them was like they cooked coots there.
I think about the only fish they didn't eat was gar.
And they were making shad stir-fries before the rest of ever heard of a "stir fry".
Carp were cooked like kidneys, then smashed into patties, and fried.
The ducks were too valuable to eat, so they mostly ate fish & coots, sold the ducks to the rich folks.
Ah, wish I could go back in time and spend a week at Walnut Log during November 1925.
