Number of dekes

1 jake, 2 hens. sometimes i setup without the jake, depends on how the gobblers are reacting to it. sometimes during the season i will usually find some gobblers shy away from the jake decoy.

I normally at least use 1 hen and a jake. This year I'm going to break out King Strut and use 2 hens!

I usually take 3 hens and 1 jake if Im hunting some of my places that have huge fields. Dont take any for mountain woods hunting.

I hate decoys but when I hunt a field bird I use them. I use a full strut tom and two hens.

I have a strutter (Pretty Boy) and a hen. Used the strutter last year once. I bought a DSD hen to try this year. I never had a real good place to set up with the decoy's. Probably use them more this year.

How many decoys do you use and what are they. (jakes, hens)
ZERO.

I've had great success in using decoys, and been greatly handicapped by using decoys. I see them as overall a "neutral" factor, and I've come to enjoy my turkey hunting more by not using them. Too easy to get "busted" when trying to set them out, or trying to retrieve them for your next "run" ---- and they're just something else I don't need to carry.

I've had decoys bring in an old Tom, and I've had decoys cause a Tom to hang up ---- mostly the latter.

None, don't need them.

Yes, you do. But I agree, they aren't always a must. Depending on the situation, terrain and what mood the turkeys are in that day, they can mean the difference in watching a bird from 100 yards, or carrying him over your shoulder on the way back to the truck.

I usually just use one hen. Last year, I bought one of the B-mobiles and added a jake fan to it. I had long beards, jakes, hens, practically everything comming to it. It worked great early to mid season. If I'm in the woods, I usually dont even use a decoy.

Depends mostly on were i hunt and time of the year. In feilds or in the woods.

Fields or small plots,. early season,.. 1 hen, 1 feeding hen. Mid season,.. feeding hen and Bmobile ,.. late,.. just the feeding hen.
Woods,.. early and mid season,. 1 hen and late season i use no decoy.

I don't use them very much, and depending on the place and pressure, I use a jake and 2 hens or just the 2 hens.
