Oct. 15 =shot #2 doe at 14 yards. She went 40 yards... Saw 9 does and 2 small 7 pointers. Also, my dad shot doe #1 at 12 yards and ran 40 yards. Three on my farm this year in 6 hunts.
Got this 90 lb (dressed) doe this morning. After field dressing her I took a walk to scout the back edge of the property, and jumped a 140 class 10 point. I think he's the one I got on trail camera in early July (see below; he added lots of height since then). Hope he sticks around a few weeks! The area he was in is pretty hard to sneak into, so I'm gonna stay out untill ML season.
#4 Doe dressed 82lbs.
Rt. lung/ center punched heart
Distance of shot-15 yards
Distance of recovery (b/t) 150 yds.
(deer dies within 5-10 seconds, I heard it fall.
Sunday afternoon I had an eight point come out on the bean field before I could get in position to shoot. I was watching him praying he would walk down the field 30 yards to me. As he stood there eating he kept looking back into the woods. This clued me in that another deer was coming. I got in position and when this dude walked buy a little grunt and a Rage later I was taking pictures. Heis a nine point.
Well, I dont know if this is the same buck I jumped last Saturday, but I didn't have time to think much about it. He was only 13 yards from me when I saw him.
Unfortunately, I thought he was 20 yards...I spined him and he dropped like a sack of taters. After a few minutes he sort of came to and tried to crawl off, so I gave him a Slick Trick to go with his Striker.
I'll butcher him tomorrow and see if I can get pics of how far the Striker went into his spine and what shape the blade's in.
