Spend the weekend in TN predator hunting... the incredible 2023 hatch is showing out.

I ended up seeing 42 toms on my farms.

2024 hatch was just as good. At least that many jakes seen.

Most males since the mid 2000s. I don't think ther are many long spurred birds, but based on the amout of gobbling I hears this weekend, it will be a blast.

Hen numbers are still less than to be desired, but slightly upticked over past 5 year average.

Overall I'm VERY optimistic for the next couple years.

Same. There's 3 packs like this running around my place...I've never seen this many. Ever.

I love that you had a good success in 2023 but not seeing it around middle TN or my farms to the west. 2024 hatch was much better and looks to be a lot more jakes this year. Almost none around last year. Still a good carry over from last year so not too worried.

2022 was the best hatch I have seen in recent years. I have not seen as many poults the last two years but I am sure some areas have been more successful than others. Good to hear we are rebounding across the state. The weather has been good at the right times the last few years. 42 Gobblers is absolutely awesome! Thanks for sharing the information.

Hope none of you have put in for the non-resident draw.
The new system is helping achieve this outcome. I finally ditched the computer (Chrome browser) and applied on my iPhone (Safari browser) and voila, it worked like a charm, in just a few seconds.

Wish Tennessee would do a non resident draw or at least hold them off for the first 2 weeks. The 1 turkey for the first 14 days rule on a select few wmas seemed to have thinned it out all little bit, but some folks didn't know the rule existed.

Flock of 17 gobblers that I've seen twice in past couple weeks close to me. Have 2 that showed up on our place this week too. Gobblers winter off us, but the ladies always stay year round 😉
