Opening Day

Quiet here too. Heard one gobbling on the roost what seemed like a mile away and have heard one shot on a property on the other side of the road.

Had probably 5 birds hammering on the roost but got quiet as soon as they hit the ground

I seen 6 or so come off the roost but they're quite and the wind is picking up pretty good.

Had 3 birds gobbling on the roost but got quiet when they flew down. Couldn't wait them out due to my sons baseball game but it sure was nice to be in the woods.

Well, my son and I got to the wma right next to the field i posted a picture of on Thursday that had 27 turkeys. At 10 minutes before first light we heard 3 gobblers responding to owl calls, crow calls, etc. At 2 minutes after first light a hen flew down and 2 toms flew done behind her. Next thing you hear is 2 shotguns simultaneously taking care of business. My son and had a ringside seat as 2 others hunters got to go home before sunrise with their prizes. Isn't public land hunting awesome.

Heard 3 or 4 gobbling on the roost and a few hens yelping but they went the wrong way lol. I gobbler gobbled a few times after fly down. Sure was nice to be out with a gun in my hand tho. Beautiful morning.

Heard gobbling right before sunrise got set up had some birds fly down and start making their way towards me at 90 yards. I'm set I think. Then, three dogs come running through and scatter them everywhere.

Heard 3 on the roost at first light, but not on my place. Then heard my 6th girls first cry at 816! Praising God for another wonderful blessing to my family.

You have six girls??? Congrats!

Heard 2 on the roost. Made the decision to go after the one to my left. They flew down just out of site but slowly came toward me. Watched the strutting Tom with five hens for 2 hours before he finally got in range. Pics to come later.
