Triggers are above average. Mine breaks less than 3.5 pounds with no take up. I have the 20 gauge turkey model also and it has a great trigger. In my opinion, they are close in feel to the Triggertech and Timneys I have in bolt guns.

Thats about perfect for a kid.

I got the same Scout stainless in 45-70 and converted to smokeless. Love the gun so much I may just get another one in a rifle caliber. Trigger is awesome. Only thing I did extra was bed the scope base. I don't think you'll have any issued shooting a lighter caliber in it though, but a little insurance is always nice.

Same here. I have .243 and .45 smokeless.

Good choice. Might I suggest a Leupold 2-7? Light weight, excellent eye relief, and simple reticle.
