I know a black gun kills the heck out of them just like any gun, mine has taken 15 in the past 2 years, all black no camo.

Part of it is that I would like it to look cool,

Ahhhhh you will be wearing costas and carrying your Sundrops in a Yeti before you know it.
if I can get a pair of costas or a yeti for 21 bucks like I paid for painting supplies, you bet I'd have em. I'd sell the stickers to some high school redneck wannabe, and put the products to good use.

yeah i used a sea sponge and just regular spray paint. the key is the base coat, the outcome of the look is all dependent on the base coat you use. I have tried a bunch of different coats as the base with a variety of outcomes. The issue with spray paint and the sponge is it gets sticky fast and can make the overall pattern smear or spot. what i ended up doing on the rest was base coating it with spray paint and then getting a few outdoor paint samples in colors i liked from like home depot or lower (they are like $2.50 per sample) and used it as the camo part. went on better and i had more options of colors i wanted to use.
I got a couple bottles of acrylic paint for details in black and green. I will use tan spray paint with the sponge for accents. I plan on a brown base color.

just do a bunch of google searches before you apply the base color. I personally have found you want to start with a light base and use darker colors as you accents, if you start with a dark base most everything minus very light colors will blend into the base and just look like a blob of color.

I will keep that in mind. Might use a tan base and sponge on the brown.

Base coat is drying. Going to hopefully do some sponging tonight after work.

Going to do some final detail work here shortly, then clear coat after a while, then post the results

I want the paint to cure for a couple days before I fire it, but I might assemble it and clean the bore out today or tomorrow.

Awesome can't wait to see it completed. I spent over an hour "deep cleaning" my barrel Sunday. I can't wait to shoot it when the weather lets up.

I'm going to be careful using the solvent because it could possibly soften the paint. Just needs to be clean but not super clean for me. It's dirty right now
