This is our past 2 afternoons. Pompano, channel mullet, and a blue fish. Got 5 crabs in the cooler and hoping to add some more on the morning.

On the last couple of days the fishing slowed down. Only got 2 more pompano and a big stingray. Plenty of junk fish on shrimp. We never got a shark bite all week long. I did catch a baby on the first day about 14 inches long. Had good bait and dropped between 200 and 300 yards out. Not even any the teeth marks in the bait. Still had a great time.

The pompano are excellent. The rest are bait in my opinion but I am a snob when it comes to fish. I have caught some huge sharks and bull reds on whiting and blues. Blues are just too oily for me but I can't handle spanish macs either.

If you vacuum seal those whiting and then freeze them, they are just as good as fresh ones. Love whiting!! I've got some pompano sealed and frozen going to eat any day now. Having fried speckled trout tonight that was caught in Little Lagoon back in May.

I'll take those two whiting over everything on the table. If you like flounder, you'll like whiting. There called Virginia mullet in coastal NC.
