I missed one at 35 yrds this morning. Missed one last week. Shot my gun twice after this mornings hunt, in a 4x4 bullseye at 30-35 yrds I got 5 pellets in the first shot, and 7 the next shot.. The bulk of the pellets hit to the right and slightly low..
Shooting a jelly head .640 choke with 3" rem 5 shot

You didn't mention what kind of gun you're shooting but .640 is mighty tight and I agree with REN on the shells...throw those suckers in the swamp. You'd have a better chance at killing a bird simply throwing the shell at him; Remington makes an awful turkey load.

Had a good friend with this problem earlier this year. Swapped chokes and it shot fine. I agree thst .640 is REALLY tight, even for lead. I'd go to a .660-.665 and shoot anything but remingtons.

There might not be a worse turkey load then anything stamped with Remington, I'm still in recovery from my foray into the duplex shot debacle 20 years ago now.

Sounds like you need to post your gun type, folks here will get you lined up with a good combo

Problem is remingtons the.Win longbeard 4 shot patterned better than all loads at walmart i actually bought a box of each the 4 shot LBs had 115 in a 10" circle at 40

If you had rifle sights on your gun you could adjust it to hit like it should. It doesn't nessecarily sound like it's all the loads fault. I do agree tho that there a lot better shells than remington. Problem for me was the win xx didn't any better lol

It's a Mossberg 935 and sorry for the typo it's a .690
I changed shells, got 3.5" mag blends 5,6,7 shot, and it's much better! Still I tad low tho... Guess I'll just aim at top of head..
The shells were a huge differences.. Twice as many pellets on the paper, and in the kill zone..

twice the number (10-15 pellets) is still not great, draw a 10 inch circle and see what you have. .690 is pretty open might need a little tighter choke

that is a good choke for the 835 and 935. magnumblends are bad to the bone. sounds like you need adjustable sights though.

I'm a little confused. You said you a 5-7 pellets in the target. Are you talking about a turkey head target or what? Because doubling that number is still real bad at that distance, especially with magblends and a jelly head choke.

Ok I reread your original post. I assume you meant a 4"x4" circle. At 30-35 you should be putting 50 or so in there.

BHC,

Honestly, that Mossy ought to be putting scores if not 100s of pellets in a 10" circle at 30 yards. Something still seems amiss. Try deep-cleaning your bore and completely unscrew/reseat the choke. Be sure to remove all wadding/gunpowder residue and take special note of the ports (if the choke is ported).

Good luck to you.

.690 is the recommend diameter for the 835 & 935 with magnum blends. I have one I seem to get a little better pattern with a .675 thru my 835.

I would suggest a getting a red dot scope or reflex type reticle. You should be able to adjust your point of impact to where you are holding and not have to remember to hold a little high.

After seeing the picture, I would get a scope or some type of adjustable sight, this way you can adjust your POI like I said on my post in the Serious forum and others have said here.

That is not horrible considering the size of the circle and assuming if that were a turkey's head, I believe he'd be dead, but you could get the bulk of that shot up and really ensure a good clean kill. JMO.
