The numbers below are in a 10 inch circle. I'm shooting 3 inch shells with 13/16 oz of TSS #9s. Gun is a Mossberg 500 with a 24 inch barrel.

20 yds: 215
30 yds: 140
40 yds: 90

I feel confident out to 40 yards with this gun. I never thought I'd say that about a .410. Best of all, the kick is laughable compared to a 12 gauge. I'm super excited about hunting with this gun after shooting today!

Haha they have 10 Guage shotguns shooting like 7 inch shells and your getting it done with the ole 410. Good for you dude. I've always wanted one of those savage 22 410 overunder guns and this makes me want it even more. Good luck with your season

I do have some 10 gauge tss patterns somewhere. .. lol

Looks good buddy, I've thought about the 410, but I just won't buy all the stuff for a gun I want to kill 1 gobbler with

Sounds like you're ready to go. How'd your pellet count look between 10" and 20" circles? What choke?

Unfortunately I bought paper that was only 14 inches wide so I didn't get an accurate 20 inch circle.

Every hunter needs a .410!

Normal .410 loads wouldn't get me passed 15 yards. Loading TSS is the only reason I'm able to make this work. I'll definitely have to wear a leafy top to stay hidden at my effective range!

My only one turkey? I have a feeling I'm ganna be hooked (pun intended) after one gobbler!

I have a 410, but it's more of a bucket list thing, I wanna kill one with it, then I'd be back to my ole faithfuls. What I meant was I wouldn't tote it enough, to justify buying all the 410 components, when I already have enough for 350 12 gauge loads

If you want to scratch it off your bucket list, I'll hook you up with everything but the shot. I ordered a 1/2 lb of 9.5s last year and loaded up a half dozen shells. I toted it a few times, but haven't scratched it off my list yet. One order from Ballistics Products got me more .410 loading supplies than I will likely ever use. Shoot me a PM whenever you decided to do it.

Fine fine gesture by you SS, but nothing short of what I expected from you. Good to see you back online.

What's the recoil like in these. 410 with a turkey load? Too much for a 7yr old?

I'd say a 7 yr old could handle it with no problem. The kick is substantially less than my youth 20 ga.

Very noteworthy how the "shot" being loaded may have become more important than the choke, and in many cases, turning a small-bore shotgun into something more effective than a big 12 gauge using lead payloads.

Having seen what I can do with a 20 ga dedicated turkey gun, I'm considered "downsizing" to either a new "featherlight" 20 ga (with only 2 3/4" chambers), or possibly even going down to a 28 gauge.

Very cool what you've done with the .410.
