Patterned the .410

Very noteworthy how the "shot" being loaded may have become more important than the choke, and in many cases, turning a small-bore shotgun into something more effective than a big 12 gauge using lead payloads.

Having seen what I can do with a 20 ga dedicated turkey gun, I'm considered "downsizing" to either a new "featherlight" 20 ga (with only 2 3/4" chambers), or possibly even going down to a 28 gauge.

Very cool what you've done with the .410.

I don't think it's as effective as a 12 ga, but it will be lethal out to 35 yards!

Several of the TSS pioneers use a 28 gauge a good bit.
This is what I'm considering, although realistically, don't have time to mess with it this spring.
The only thing a bit disappointing is that the 28 ga is only 4 ounces lighter than the 20 ga.

But soon as I save up enough to go on a weekend quail hunt at Ames, this should do nicely.

Thanks to southern sportsman, I got some loaded yesterday. Pics in the pattern section

Nice! What gun did you go with?

It's an old stevens single shot with an extra full choke barrel

Nice! I was going to go the single shot route but the gun I wanted sold 3 days before I went to buy it.
