Scouted a little for deer and found a honey hole of pawpaws! Been half a day squeezing pulp so momma can bake some bread. About a dozen loaves with pecans in some, walnuts in others, and chocolate chips in a few. If you've never had fresh baked pawpaw bread you're missing out!

Haven't seen any in years, my brother used to have a whole grove of them in his back yard.
Sure would love to find a few trees.

I'd never seen so many in one area before. Creek bottom was loaded with them. Literally took all I could carry. Just finished up at 14 loaves and still have a 5gal bucket full of fruit.

What is your pawpaw bread recipe?

Pfft I dunno. I'll ask the wife. Pretty sure it's a Betty Crocker banana bread recipe subbed with pawpaws. Instead of 2-3 bananas she uses 1.5 cups pawpaw pulp. It tastes similar to banana bread but you can easily tell its pawpaw, especially if you are familiar with how pawpaws taste. Nothing else quite like it.

Squeezing the pulp out and cleaning out the seeds is a little tedious because it takes a lot of fruits. But it's well worth the effort. It's as hillbilly as squirrel gravy over biscuits and just as much a delicacy.
