I know the UM fans have stated their doubts about him.

He just made it worse!

"Stop disrespecting me, bro"

"I think the one thing I can say to this media, because this media gets kind of (expletive) up sometimes when it comes to me, (is) we don't have our full roster," he began. "Y'all know we don't have our full roster. So, stop asking me stupid, (expletive) questions about if I feel like I can do something."

My son and I were talking about this last night as we watched a really good Purdue v Indiana game. He'd be better off getting off the one and done train. Best teams have a lot of solid juniors and seniors and maybe one star player.

Like him or not, his Tigers beat the brakes off my 'Bama basketball team back in December.... Not saying that was a great accomplishment this year, but it shocked many folks at the time.

Lifelong Tiger fan and alum. Penny's biggest failure is in not having a real point guard. If we had gotten the Briarcrest kid that went to TN, we'd be a better team by far.

Another issue is jealousy within the team. The two highly recruited players, Duren and Bates, got $ under the awful practice of allowing players to be compensated for NIL.

Pennys teams play hard, but their stated desire to have the fastest team in the nation is a mess given no true point guard. We've also had a rash of injuries and players missing due to covid. In several of our losses, we only had 7 scholarship players available. That is the issue where Penny dropped a few g bombs.

Penny is not a coach. Great recruiter, ambassador for the U of M…or at least has been in the past. But he has done what he was hired to do and that was to get the U of M name on the national attention again. Now, let him ride off into the sunset with a little prodding in the off season and go hire Sean Miller.

Any idea if hiring Larry Brown was his idea, or the higher ups?

One would think that he would have helped on the coaching side of things.

The splash names all come from Hardaway's contacts and relationships I'm sure.

I am told Larry and the other assistants coach the team on X and O as well as prep game plan with little input from $.01. When he tries to over rule them is when these teams get into trouble.

Penny wanted to hire Larry Brown day 1 he was hired. The AD at the time would not approve it. New AD and now Larry Brown.

As I said previously, I'm a lifelong Mem fan. Given our place, athletically, in the world of sports, I'm for keeping Penny.

But, Penny still has to face the NCAA over the James Wiseman crap.
