My first concern with Butch was a couple years ago when a well known VFL and former NFL player who has spent time with Butch was having beers with a friend. My friend was excited about what Butch was doing with recruiting and the VFL wouldn't say much more about Jones than "he's ok."

Some TN fans said before season that Butch so far had proven he could recruit but had not proven he could win big games. He might prove otherwise and be here for years or he might get fired and never be a good gameday coach. Nobody knows right now. He is deservingly taking a lot of heat for his three losses for crazy decisions but his team has also had a real chance at winning everyone of the three games they lost. The players are not completely blame free either.

Just as a point of clarification on the 5 strikes thing. There are rules set at each school as to what happens on failed drug tests. A coach can't kick a kid off for two failed tests if the school policy says 5, etc.
I have seen the list of each schools policy, and it will make you sick. I have also been told by somebody I think would know, that the number of college athletes with positive weed tests would blow your mind.
Anyway, if everyone will recall, the kid has been suspended basically his whole career. It's all butch can do within the rules. There's plenty to be pissed at butch for, but this ain't one of them.
