Got my late drop persimmon and chestnut trees from whitetail hill in yesterday, 3 of each. The persimmon roots didn't look good at all, but we'll see.

Chestnut root systems looked much better, but trees looked dry though.

Persimmons on the right, next to my keiffer and bartlett pears. Probably going to take the cages off the pear trees, think they are big enough. Went with 5 ft tubes, staked with rebar on two sides of each tube.

Looks good. I've heard bareroot trees can benefit from soaking the roots in water for a while before planting.
We took 10 gallons of water back with us, and slow soaked the soil after planting them.

I have had pretty good luck with bare root trees in the past, the 6 pear trees to the right of these in the 3rd pic were all bare root trees.
