Playoff Chaos

Our best bet is for Bama to win the SEC champ game. They're getting in the CFP no matter what, as I guess the Saban effect is still in place, so maybe they can eliminate someone else.

Surely then our convincing win will mean something!

Never thought I'd see the day when I would be for Gators and the Buckeyes but it is in the Vols best interest!I sure hope Texas beat's A&M and Notre Dame loses!

If the loser of the SECCG has 3 losses are they out?
We've been discussing this a lot in my little group ... I think the only way that's "fair" (funny word to use in this situation) is to disregard the championship game for the loser. ie a 10-2 team that loses its championship is looked at as if it were 10-2, not 10-3. Otherwise they're going to find themselves in situations where teams don't want to play for their conference championship and risk getting knocked out of the playoffs.

I think the 2 Championship teams make it regardless of the 3rd loss. I believe you get into resume comparison between all the 10-2 teams outside of the Championship game to see who is the odd one out. As was said before if you are going to get knocked out from playing the championship game then what would be the point, because the loser of the game turns into a victim of success.

I'm leaning this way as well. Ignore the championship game for the loser and rank them based on their regular season record.

One or both teams in a conference championship game could enter the game being ranked lower than conference teams left out.

I'm looking at the future a little differently regarding championship games. I think every conference should have one, after all, the name of the game is more games equals more money right? For the NCAA that is.
I agree these games should remain. I just don't think you can punish the runner up for losing that game if you are getting multiple conference teams in the playoffs

That's basically meant for the two powerhouse conferences. I don't think the lesser conferences "runner up's" necessarily deserve a spot…..which brings up more drama lol

Winning the SECCG or just making the SECCG should be a big deal. That's why I don't like auto bids. Somebody is going to get screwed. Whichever SEC team that gets left out would beat the number 12 team.
