Potential World record bird

Re: Potential World record bird

I heard about this a week or so ago.
Just saw it yesterday though.
Awesome bird.

Good for him I guess. Weight doesn't mean anything anyways. Spurs sounded nice though.
I believe it said spurs were 1-1/4", so that likely puts him at a three or maybe four year old. Which in my opinion is a dang good bird.

I am sure they will test the breast bone to see if it is a wild or domestic turkey.

Re: Potential World record bird

I've read it several times and saw it several times and I just can't believe it.
There's always a story behind a big one. Be it deer or turkey. I'd say he needs a new set of scales.

Yep haha. That reminds me, wasn't there a product at one time for food plots or mineral sites that was called beard builder?

Not sure but as gullible as some folks are I wouldn't doubt it. All you need is a big name to endorse it.

Re: Potential World record bird

Color me skeptical on this whole thing, bird looks normal sized to me and I find the whole thing suspicious

Re: Potential World record bird

I will agree, that bird don't look very big to me.
Kinda odd really.

Re: Potential World record bird

Can't judge by a photo, camera angles make a huge difference. But wait till the NWTF comes back with official results....I'm curious to see if it's true wild and not bred with farm turkeys

Re: Potential World record bird

When the TWRA came to my house to look at my daughter's turkey, they suggested have the taxidermist cut and save the breast bone to prove it was a wild turkey. I did not know there was a difference.

Re: Potential World record bird

I reckon they made it official that it's the new record.
Can't help but think there is something fishy about it.

Wild turkeys have a notch in their breast bone where they pull themselves against a tree limb when they sleep. Tame turkeys obviously dont roost the same, thus the difference.

And i'm calling Bullsh*t on the farm bird.

.

Excuse my ignorance, but is this notch something that develops over time or are they born with it?
Guess I am asking do they "create" this notch by roosting?
