Pre-Rut challenge: Post a pic of "the one that got away"

I let this first one walk during muzzleloader last year. He's the biggest I ever intentionally passed. Can't tell you why I didn't shoot him other than I never picked up my gun, just my phone. Hope he made it to this year.

The second I let walk the end of December. It may be because he was emaciated from the rut, but he just looked young. I'm in Jamaica now so haven't checked recent cameras, but do know he survived the season.
You can't kill him this year if you had killed him last year. :)

At this very moment, I was in a stand 250-300 yds away. He was with a doe. She went the other way, so he went the other way. he's standing in the shooting lane for the tree stand I should have been in.

Ooof!

I love when a big ole buck gives me the slip. No one wants it to be too easy :)

Trail cam pic is 3.5 and the shed is one given to me from when he was 5.5. I saw him at 4.5. 200 yards away when I was 16 years old hunting in a climber. He walked across a Kudzu patch and I knew there was no way I could hit him. He would've been close to going 160 net
DANG that's a stud!

Had several pics of this one a three years back. Never did catch up with him... yet. He may still be lurking.

These are the two that got away. The second one in Mr. Nocturnal who was afraid of the sun and never came out for pics in the sunlight. They were actually in a bachelor group together.

Very nice buck, but he looks young, so it was a good pass

Had this guy at 60 yards during muzzleloader 2019. Boom! Smoke clears and no deer. Next thing I see him about 200 yards away trotting casually. Only white hair at the shot site. No blood. Seen him several times since. Clean miss just shaved his belly. That miss felt like a kick in the nuts for 3-4 straight weeks; and even now as I type this and relive it. ughhh.

The deer that almost divorced me. Never got another photo of him, never saw him, neighbors never saw him nor got photos; it was like he dropped down out of a helicopter in front of that camera and went back up. I had a camera per every 11 acres on that farm for 3 more years and never got another picture of him. Most of them cellular cameras so I didn't have to physically check them. I would move them every week or two in case he was going around them which I have seen old deer do. As far as I know, I was the only person to ever get a picture of him in that area.

I've had a few that would fall into this category, but this one stands out. I was off of work this whole week and had quite a few pictures of this buck - all at night up until this moment. I remember I woke up at 4am and it was pouring buckets. Not a little rain, like torrential down pouring. I thought to myself "Nope, not today" and went back to bed. Fast forward the clock a couple hours that same morning and the rain stopped. 7:34am this public land 12 walks 30yards in front of my stand. Never saw this buck in person, and never got another trail cam pic of him after this. Still makes me sick......

Only pic I ever had of this deer but it's blurry. Heavy pressured land in northeast TN
