I have tried to get some fire on the ground this year. One was a large loblolly pole stand I burned in January. The other burn was a hwd stand I TSI'ed in 2022 and a clearcut . My goal is to encourage turkey habitat. We will see what happens, but curious if anyone else is busy getting work on the ground.

Every time we get dry enough to burn in KY the slap a burn ban on us or the wind gets up. Seems they are skiddish after all the wildfires this winter!
Been trying to burn a farm that is normally wet but this year just can't get right.
If it don't happen soon may just have to mow it.
We burned the timber stands last year

besides roads, I just use atv trails blown with a leaf blower as breaks. I go real slow though.
My burns areas are on the sides of very steep hills. They do not reach to the top of the ridge nor bottom of the valley. So that would mean cutting firebreaks crossways across steep terrain.
