I do not post on here much and mainly just follow along, but I can't pass up the opportunity to brag on my Dad. This man is a straight up killing machine and loves to be in the woods. He puts in the time every year and deserves to kill big bucks, which he often does. He has this instinct about him, that I hope to have one day! I've got buddy's every year that text me to check what he is seeing in the woods, as he is our gauge on what the movement is on a daily basis. He doesn't even realize this, and would never brag about his own ability to harvest mature deer on an almost annual basis. This man has overcome 2 back surgeries in last 5 years, which has slowed him down a bit from the long walks carrying climbers, and actually hunts from the ground some, which I know kills him to do but still is successful. Thankfully, he calls me most of the time to come help recover the deer and help drag it out. Nothing like finding a big buck with your dad and soaking it all in while celebrating. Yesterday, I got a call at work from dad, and I could tell by the excitement in his voice that he had shot another big buck. He told me he had shot the biggest buck of his life and that he was gonna back out and wait for a little bit to recover the deer. So what do I do? I tell my boss I'm leaving for the day because my dad had a big deer down and I couldn't wait to get there and recover the deer with him. Man am I sure glad I left work. He had not only killed the biggest buck of his life, but he had killed a buck of lifetime for any East Tennessee country boy. It's a deer that I will talk about for the rest of my life and will always be thankful for the opportunity to help recover such a beautiful creature with my dad. At 3:49 and 74 degrees outside this big buck made a mistake and tried to slip by my dad.
