Was thinking the same. You may have a dead deer. High hit, cavity filled with blood but with no exit didn't leave a trail. Grid search.
Yea it's probably dead piled up somewhere. Grid search in the direction she went and in your mind make it a priority to be on the lookout for "white" belly or tail sticking out from the brown background

Is it possible you had a bad load? Damp powder, bullet not seated properly, anything else? Just throwing other possibilities out there. Crazy things can happen with muzzleloaders.

Place a target where the deer was standing and shoot at it from the stand. If no adjustments have been made, this should show bullet impact placement. If your gun hits dead on, you either pulled the shot or you should have a dead deer, good luck, safe hunting!

missed one at 15 yards this week myself. felt it when i pulled the trigger. deer ran about 80 yards. gave me time to reload and drop it on the spot. my miss was definitley my fault
