I will study up on this possibility. My wife and I have been hunting this property for 3 years and never heard any whistles. My first thought was I'd heard a coyote, but they don't whistle. I will be hunting them hard after deer season. One pack a year ago seems to have split into two and my wife, from the front porch, saw one chasing two doe and a buck this morning. Those I don't have a problem removing since they don't seem to have a natural predator here and we need to protect the wife's chickens and two cats (lost a cat and 6 chickens in late July).I know it's way off base but I remember as a kid hearing the whistles in the woods. I'd whistle back at it and it would whistle going away. Same thing happened to my dad. He thought it was me and followed it up and down several ridges. He said when he was a kid the old timers called it a whistle jack. But he don't know if they was talking about a wildcat, fox or the paranormal. It's very unsettling as it sounds just like a person. My 12 year old mind was freaking out!
