Or atleast the one I used to kill a deer today was....The arrow only went in about 4 inches......
The deer did die fairly quickly, and there was a nice blood trail, but now the head is completely useless....Even the body is warped.....$13.00 throwaway heads...OUCH!

i was trying to make my final decision this week, and i watched obsession, and another show (both highly spoke of the rages) and after seeing 4 deer shot with rage 2 blades, with 0 pass through shots. I switched back to fixed blades, and am done with the rages.

Was it a good shot? Only 4 inch penetration? Glad it was a rage or you might not have recovered it!

Yeah, got both lungs.....I was pretty surprised too.... I am shooting 65lbs and the bow is perfectly tuned.....I shot Hellrazors to broadhead tune it...Then switched over to the Rage practice tip....

I dont get it either...Atleast there was alot of blood...Huge puddles!

No pass thru with rages?...........get a serious weighted arrow to broadhead and pounds of pull combination. I have not failed to get complete pass thrus since 1990. I have over 50+ kills and never had a failure of a pass thru since then...
I believe some folks dont get their set ups correct and suffer these things. Rages will cut on impact........get a bow that slings an arrow or get a heavier weighted arrow? What good is 300 fps if it has no kinetic energy to pass thru. There is no excuse for lack of pass thrus with todays fast bows and great arrows and expensive broadheads except poor choices of their usages..........imo!

..Killed 4 does two years ago with 2 bladed rages, changed back
to sidewinder by rocket. They have won my heart by cutting big
holes and flying true.

Not a condemnation, but a recent experience....

I have expressed concern to my dad about his desire to shoot mechanicals and last night he finally understood. He is shooting a Z7 at ~57lbs; Gold Tip arrows that are about 7.3GPI. With 100gr points his total arrow weight is ~330GPI, but it's quick

I've shared with him that I believe his setup is not good for mechanicals and he should shoot a cut on contact fixed blade. He just started bowhunting again last year after about a 30yr layoff. He killed four deer last year shooting slick tricks. All four were pass throughs. One deer was a southern Illinois buck weighing about 175lbs.

Last night he shot a 130lb deer at a slight quartering angle. The back rib was the only bone involved, but it was not a direct hit. He did not get a pass thru. He got a far side hole, but when we recovered the deer the arrow was hanging out both sides.

After the blood trail, celebration, drag, quartering, etc. last night I mentioned to him that I was concerned about his arrow penetration. He's going to northern MO in November to hunt and if he shoots a big deer with his setup I don't see any way it will pass through.

This morning he handed me an unopened pack of Rage 2 blade BHs and said he's going back to slick tricks and now understands why I've been against them.

Before you ask, his bow is well tuned and is shooting bullet holes ;)

I do believe there is a place for these large cutting mechanicals, but they aren't for everybody.

I tried the rages last year because they were supposed to be the best mechanical broadhead. I shot four deer with the them last year and none of them were pass throughs and the blades bent really easy. I switched back to meat seekers this year.

I use Rage two blades on my Mathews Drenalin. The bow is set up properly, shoots fast and I use Gold Tip arrows. I have yet to not have a pass through. I cleaned two of the three rage two blades from last year, sharpened them up and back in the quiver. I dont care what blade you use, especially a mechanical, if you hit bone chances are the blade is going to get bent. My two blade that got jacked up last year went through the deer and into rocky ground.

The only reason I post this is not every bow is set up right, not everyone should be shooting a mechanical with their set up
and some shots will result in a busted up broad head no matter what.

As usual the deer i killed opening morning with the rage 2 blade was unbelievable!! She was quartering away, i hit her perfect and immediately, a softball size wad of intestines comes out of her, she ran 40 yards and dies just like the other 12 have done, actually she made it about 20 yards further than all the others.I will be glad to email someone pics if they want to post the for everyone here to see.

ive shot slap thru several deer at 56-58 yards with the rage 2 blades, in fact out of all the deer ive shot with the rage 2 blades only one wasnt a pass thru and that was because she was sharply quartering and even at that i had a great blood trail even though i didn't need it because she only made it 40 yards.

Somebody please do the math for me...I am shooting a 27" 55-75 Goldtip with a 65-LB draw weight...It is coming out of a Martin Moab....Heck I dont know the FPS...100 grain broadhead..
I may actually be one of those guys that needs a cut on contact tip....Oh yeah like I said, Bullet holes in paper and Broadhead tuned with A Hellrazor...
Thanks in advance..
