Rain Hunting Strategy with a ML

if you've got rain gear and a tree umbrella, that would be what i would lean toward. gotta go where the deer are or get to a place where you are in range of where the deer are. if no rain gear, still get the tree umbrella!

Weather sucks but it's time to be in the woods. I doubt I'll be in a shooting house but might be. Other then that a condom on the end of the barrel will keep your barrel dry if you're worried about that. I'm not seeing much midday movement at all right now on cameras doubt that changes this weekend.
The condoms I bought in TN kept falling off so I had someone stop by campus at the University of Alabama and grab a pack of Bama condoms. They're pretty difficult to stretch out enough to get over the end of the barrel but I don't have to worry about them slipping off.

Ha!

My smokeless gets electric tape every time it is loaded. I wrap some around all my powder cases so I have plenty. I add a cleaning swap to bottom of another case to keep my primers from rattling in another.

I prefer the bottom one,….👍

Guess we will see. If it's only light drizzle, I will go to whatever stand i think will give me the best odds. May let my wife go if she wants to.

We do have a homemade steel two person ladder stand that is wrapped in army tent canvas. I just put new canvas on the roof, so it should be pretty rain resistant. If it's steady and more than a drizzle that may be our best option.

Luckily we don't use the # 11 precision caps like we use to. And we don't use real measured powder like most of us did back in the day. Some still do I know. That was about a 50/50 shot of going off when you shot especially in the rain. I still just put tape over the end of the barrel back then. The 209 primers are very reliable doesn't really matter if they get wet really. Just put painters tape over the end of the barrel and keep the muzzle down. If it's pouring rain my powder will stay dry in the gun case at home. Little drizzle I can deal with that.
