DeBoer is certainly taking a different approach in this NIL world. Still has the top 2 signing class and I feel confident he plans to work the portal to his advantage. Lane Kiffin has done well with that.

Alabama didn't recruit in state very well but they did nationally. We'll see how it works out.
I think what Saban was brilliant about was recruiting talent that he wanted to keep out of the hands of other SEC teams and then had them ride the pine for a couple of seasons and when they were no longer a threat to the ALABAMA program he cut them loose.

That's freaking chitty. Probably cost them kids millions. What an arsehole!

Can't do that now

Transfer and play immediately

You're a POS if you think that's brilliant. That's pure evil, just like dipshits wife's eyes. All the more reason to despise that dumb Rosie O'Donnell.

He IS a POS and couldn't care less how many kids' careers were destroyed as long as it won alabama one ball game. That's how disgraceful that POS is. He has no morals, ethics or class.

If you can't keep your borders you definitely arent going to sucess recruiting
The Alabama recruiting manager or coordinator (whatever he is called) mentioned how they got in late in Alabama when they arrived less than a year ago. Networks with local coaches and programs is a big deal. The current staff is working to get this going; instate and borders. I hope they get on track instate to get who they want and need. I also think the 2025 class in the state of Alabama is not extremely loaded.

Saban did not always take a large number of instate players each year but they usually got some very good players each year. It used to be a thing for team loyalty, team rivalries, and local support. I don't know now as NIL and portal have changed attitudes.

Ok cool. He would be a pos also.
Lots of coaches/teams did it. Magically not have a scholly for them at the last minute, then offer them a Grey Shirt to basically get them for free. By the time they'd find all this out, there were would be very few scholarships left since most teams had already filled their allotment.

There was some press on Grey Shirting years ago. I know several girls that experienced it in softball, almost all at top level schools. Among others, it happened to two of our close friends at TN and KY.
