hahah holy crap i knew they kicked hard but man this really puts it into perspective....check the one at the very bottom. This list is sorted by recoil energy.

Oh yeah when pattering those rascals a man needs some BC head powders! I also agree tho, when you have a longbeard lined up u don't feel it too much and your ears don't ring near as bad neither!

I knew my turkey gun kicked more than my .338 but I didn't think it was by that much. It's twice as much. Dang!

Shooting paper with 12 gauge 3.5 turkey shells and 3" slugs are the worst I have ever been kicked. I am pretty sure the worst ever was the day I shot 12-15 Nitro 3.5" shells through my Rem 870 trying to get the POA to coincide with the POI. I finally managed after an hour and a half shooting and a slightly bruised/blackened cheek bone. I'd be willing to bet the Nitro 3.5" shells with 2 7/16 shot is worse than the 78 ft/lbs listed here. They kill on both ends when you are shooting paper. I never seem to notice the kick when shooting an ol' bird. :)

i shot a 3.5 the other day for the first time in a LONG time, however it was out of a leadslead....even with it in there it hit me in the cheek bone AND jumped out of the sled hahah.

my IMMEDIATE reaction was holy (censored) hahaha.

It's no comparison that my 835 with 3 1/2" turkey loads kicks more than anything I own. When I put my scope on it I used 2 3/4" #6's to get it on and close before fine tuning it with the big boys. When it goes bang it punishes on both ends and I hate to shoot it but as mentioned previously you don't notice when that longbeard is right in front of you.

Thats exactly why I stick with the set up that has worked for me for a while now. I only want to shoot that joker 4 times a year.

A 3" kills just as dead as a 3 1/2" and dont knock the stupid out of you AS bad. As far as bieng able to shoot farther with a 3.5, I killed my first bird at 70 steps with a 3". You guys can take the punishment if you want to.

haha yeah the sled made it to wear i would do it more then once but still was not a fun experience.

I am still going to stick with 3" but just wanted to see what the 3.5 would do at 40yds......and what they would do to my shoulder and face lol

The first 3.5 I shot was while patterning an 835 I bought last year. After the first shot I was like that wasn't bad, what's everybody talking about? After the second shot, I was like okay that hurt a little. After the third shot, I was like okay no more lol.

Shoot a 2 7/6 ounce load nitro. It opens the pump by itself. lol i check my sights once a year and i never feel it on a turkey. As far as the difference on a 3 inch and a 3 1/2 i tell everyone about 20 yards.
