Red, Green, Purple slate calls

Have any of you used any of the slate made of this material?
I've played with some but couldn't notice much of a "wow" sound difference more so than any other custom quality pots whether they made of aluminum, glass, slate, etc.

I think I just like to have or "collect" turkey calls for nostalgia more than sounds.

Just wanting some of yalls thoughts or experience.

Green is my favorite. The pitch just seems right. The red and purple slates are harder and sound more like glass to me. Nothing wrong with that though. Take one of each with you.

I think it's another surface option. I make several calls and I think the color variations are tighter grained than some of the gray slate. I have got gray slate in with cool streaks as well.

I don't know that the surface gives the wow factor as much as internal construction. I've made a few calls that you can feel sing in your hand. I don't know what was different about those, but it's hard to replicate even knowing how you made them.

I really like local hardwoods-walnut, persimmon, and cherry, etc.

I've been making a few out of sapele, zebrawood, and Padauk lately and experimenting with some laminates with purpleheart trim. I've been doing it for a while but don't have time like I used to!
