None of the above. I moved to Oklahoma City in 1999 not being much of a football fan at all. OU was really good then and Alabama was really bad. Coincidentally AL and OU played a home-home series in 2002-2003. Bama lost both games, but I watched with a lot of Sooners and became a fan.

...and for the record, if you are from Alabama you are either an Alabama or Auburn fan. Even though I wasn't interested much in football, I was probably lumped in with the Alabama fans because most of the folks I hung around were Bama fans.

The school I graduated from didn't have a football team.

I didn't select any of the given options. I love my Tennessee Vols but have no direct ties to the school. My daughter will hopefully be attending school there in 2 years. I guess it was natural for me since I was born and raised in Tennessee. I guess that "mostly" fits your last option

I am a small time monthly donor to Vols Athletics

Graduated with Wildlife Management degree from Purdue University…go Boilers, win 2-4 games a year! I grew up a big IU basketball fan, but I pretty much was a fan of all the surrounding teams like UK, Louisville, Notre Dame. I root for UT now that I live here, but my interest in being a sports fan isn't what it used be at all. Now I just enjoy good games no matter who is playing.

Growing up in Nashville I'd have to go with picked a school because of proximity although my daughter ended up going there too. My dad was being recruited by Alabama but blew his knee out so that ended his football days. When bama and UT would play he'd be for whoever had the most to lose and he'd also pull for Vandy too. Somehow I went to the orange side and would joke with him that thank God he blew his knee out or I'd be a bama fan. 😂 I would pull for Vandy too except when they played UT until Dinardo made his comment that if you didn't pull for them 10 games a year don't pull for them the other 9 so I then went to hoping the lost every game. I had plans of going to UT but my brother was already at Tennessee Tech and I knew a bunch of the guys from going up there. They offered me a partial ride to play baseball so I did that for a year and didn't like it. Hung it up for good 2 weeks into fall practice my sophomore year and thought about transferring to UT but loved it at Tech so I stayed. Had football season tickets for about 5 years and then my daughter came along and I let them go. Two years ago after she finished grad school there I got them again.

I had no choice. I was born into it.

Dad has had season tickets for probably close to 60 yrs.

I vaguely remember going with my parents and younger brother. We were probably 5 and 6 or close to that. I don't remember specifics, but it must not have gone as he hoped, because I think we were teenagers before we went again 😄 !

I live 30 mins west of Knoxville. Everyone is a UT fan for the most part. You Had alot of Bandwagon UF fans in the Spurrier/Meyer days, but haven't seen many around these parts in the last Decade. Then came the drooling bammer fans around 09 screaming about being a fan of bama for 68 years when I knew half of them for 20 years, and never heard them say the words RoLl TIdE till around then.

But for the most part it was all VOL in this area, that's what my dad watched and I followed the home team family favorite.

None of thee above. I follow several teams.
1. Fresno State My Alma matter (I went to college there Trent Dilfer was our quarterback.)
2. Notre Dame Growing up my Dad drove dedicated semi truck to South Bend so everything in my room was Notre Dame Football. (Man I wish I would have kept that collection.)
3. Tn Vols. Out of everywhere I have lived in my life I feel I am a Tennessean through and through. Growing up we came to Tn every year for the Family reunion. I have always felt like I have strong ties to Tn. My entire Family can be traced back through Tn, either Memphis area or Pulaski area.

So when any of those team play I keep up somewhat.
I follow Notre Dame the most. I guess it just reminds me of my Dad and watching football with him growing up.

Same reason I follow Dodger baseball I went to a game with my Dad as a kid and the 49ers. Candlestick park. Although I gave up pro sports awhile back.

Born in it as a native Tennessean and went to 1st UT game in 1973 vs TCU
Then went to an few home games, all nashville and Memphis and even to Jacksom MS until going there to school
Graduated there in 1989, wife graduated there also. Both of us had set of 4 season tickets. I didn't miss a home game from 1985 - 2014 when finally decided to.give up all 8 tickets as kids football schedules had them playing from Seymour to chattanooga, nashville and Memphis and also couldn't get people to go with us to UT games so gave up tickets. Made all games vs AL in Birmingham in late 80s til they moved it to Tuscaloosa around 1999. Went to most all bowl games amd all SEC champ games. It was great being there but as one gets older it is SO much easier sitting home watching on the big screen and a LOT cheaper. And as I get older, I do not like being in crowds.

It's clear from reading the sports forum a bit that there is some real attachment to some college sports teams. I'm always curious how that deep attachment came about.
Thanks for asking this. I have contemplated asking the same question
It will be great it the majority of sports forum posters will answer. Should be interesting

Born and raised in Arkansas, so deep roots there. My wife is from Wetumpka, AL and is an Auburn fan, so support them out of love for my wife. Moved to West Tennessee after high school and been a University of Memphis fan for over 30 years. Son and daughter got undergrad and masters from Memphis, further strengthening that attachment. Daughter was married this year and my son-in-law is a UT grad, developed a stronger affinity due to that connection.

Arkansas 1-A, Memphis 1-B
Pull for Auburn and Tennessee when not playing Arkansas or Memphis.

Family is a great reason to support a program....
