My father in law was given an old Remington model 1894 single shot 12ga by his uncle. Said his uncle told him it shot 2 1/2" shells which I had never heard of but found them online. He's not attached to it and looking to get rid of it and wondering what it's worth. I haven't seen it other than these pics but he said it's definitely been used. Asked him to look down the bore and he said it looked clean and no rust. If what I found online is correct it says they were made between 1894-1910. Anybody know about this one and venture a guess on value?

It's pretty rough. If it still locks up tight and the bores are not pitted it should bring $300-400. If it's loose and pitted $150-200 at best. When they are loose it cost more to repair than it is worth.

Appreciate the insight. I haven't seen it so not sure how tight it is. Here's a couple of bore pics he sent me. Not the best pics but he said it appears to be clean and smooth.
