Run and gunners vs blind and decoy hunters

Mobile as well...no dekes.

I do more of what I call trolling though; still cover lots of ground but try to be much more thorough rather than just walking and calling. If a bird cuts my call off with a gobble that's great and I'm in business. If no answer but I know birds should be within earshot, I'll sit a little while and can't tell you how many times a bird has hollered after 15-20 minutes have passed...trying to communicate with the hen that recently wandered through.

If I'd have simply moved on to the next prospecting spot, might have never gotten a response.
I've called and killed turkeys that way. If I know I'm in a good spot, I don't just call and then leave if there's no response. I sit down at least 20 or 30 minutes, I've had em come in quiet and gobble close by, and I've had em come in completely quiet

I do what I have to do to kill them, which is running and gunning most of the time.

I will blind hunt if I have to, but I don't like it near as much.

I run and gun like most of you, but there is nothing like setting up a strutter and a couple hen decoys and watching that pissed off tom come in on a dead run from 200 yards out only to meet a lead wall when he gets to the spread.

Here in the East the land is steep, when I was young I could run and try to get above the gobblers. It is imperative to get above, if you plan on working a bird or at least even with the bird.Calling a bird down a ridge is next to impossible. As I got older I would just relax and let the hunt come to me ,not able to run like I once did.Hunt smarter so to speak and enjoy the experience more.

I do both but prefer to move. After I've hunted a place a few times I may see a pattern the birds are on. For instance, if I'm always seeing birds in a field right after sun up it suggests they are roosting right off the field and flying into it off the roost. I may use dekes and set up on that field. If they don't or I hear no birds I'll move leaving my dekes set up. After I make a sweep of the area I may return to that field. On more than one occasion I've had birds feeding and strutting around my dekes and I set up and call. Otherwise, I'm on the move most of the time.
