for some reason i feel this might be the same deer....brows are slightly similar and the left beam seems to flare slightly up where the right beam rounds out a tad flatter....its really evident in the hard horned pic....

velvet pic was june 26th i think and still had month and a half or more of growing left to do..

hard horn pic was a encouter on december 16th with my video cam...

what you guys think?

I'm with Hozzie
Different buck you see the ears laid back in first pic, if the wasn't the ears would
be at edge or outside main beam
They are clearly not in bottom pic

what makes me think might be same deer is the flaring of main beam and the right one slightly lower which you can see in first pic left beam is higher than left....bottom pic is early velvet and deer has a lot of growing to do through july and august and body seems similar though you cant tell from first pic but i have a 5 min video of top pic of the deer and seems that way....

its the cheapest cam i got and the most reliable so far and as you can see takes well enough pics

Fair enough on the reliable part. I got no dog in the fight . I learned a long time ago if it says Tasco on the side it needs to go in the Trashco. LOL

But I gotta say of all the trail cam pics that have been posted. That Tasco of yours has the worst resolution of the bunch.

Near certain it is a different deer.
True, there are "some" similarities.

Note how the right (deer's right, our view is left) brow tine in the hard-antler pic appears shorter than in the velvet pic. Opposite would be expected if same deer. Also note how in the hard-antler pic that same right brow is oriented to point more straight up, while in the velvet pic it points noticeably inward. Should be the same orientation if same buck.

Not to mention, the velvet buck definitely has a wider rack than the hard-antler buck ---- that alone should rule out both pics being same buck. Note the orientation of the ears. If the ears were in the same position in both pics, the much wider rack of the velvet buck would stand out better.

Different deer. As others have pointed out, browtines are noticeably different in shape. As I've said many times, it amazes me how often I can identify individual bucks by their browtines. They seem to be the most "unique" and individualized of all antler characteristics.
