We had a pair of Whoopers stop over at our little private duck hole a couple of years ago. They had a stack of bands on their legs that a show dog couldn't jump over.
Thanks. The last group that came by suddenly veered and came in behind us. We spun around and dropped one. Two of them were hit hard but continued flying. Those are some tough critters.Got a trip booked with him in two weeks! Glad to hear this report! Congrats on yalls success!
Out of curiosity what shells were you shooting? Thanks. The last group that came by suddenly veered and came in behind us. We spun around and dropped one. Two of them were hit hard but continued flying. Those are some tough critters.
Who did you go with? Surprised a guide recommended a smaller gauge and #2's.. Are they decoying in your face? If so, that would make sense though.I hunted them outside of Lubbock, Tx this year because you can get 3 a day. I used 12ga BB and it did just fine. Our guide said his ideal load would be 20ga #2
Final Descent guide service. It was $400 a gun per day. TX doesn't treat them like waterfowl like TN. It's legal to use lead shot if you want down there which seemed odd. The hunting licenses were only $60 for the week.Who did you go with? Surprised a guide recommended a smaller gauge and #2's.. Are they decoying in your face? If so, that would make sense
Oklahoma is the same way. No draw tags either. Limit was 3 or 4 per day and could use lead shot. They technically aren't waterfowl as they don't have webbed feet. Or so that was what I heard .Final Descent guide service. It was $400 a gun per day. TX doesn't treat them like waterfowl like TN. It's legal to use lead shot if you want down there which seemed odd. They were decoying into our face. We were in layout blinds. We were setup on a transition between a cotton field and a peanut field.
#2's, 12 ga. 3" shell.Out of curiosity what shells were you shooting?
In Texas you can get 3 per day, all season long. A Texas guide recommended #5 turkey shot to me.I hunted them outside of Lubbock, Tx this year because you can get 3 a day. I used 12ga BB and it did just fine. Our guide said his ideal load would be 20ga #2
Sure wish TN would do that. When I draw crane tags I have to buy a duck stamp and I don't duck hunt. Kinda inconvenient to do that for two birds.TX doesn't treat them like waterfowl like TN.
