I think some years the breeding has not started in TN at first of season. Same goes for Fort Campbell. When it is like that you can have success calling the gobblers away from the hens.
What specific areas/counties are you referring to? I talk to several guys every year that turkey hunt from the southern most counties to the northern most counties and there can very easily be a 10-15 day difference in what the turkeys are doing (winter flocks breaking up, peak breeding, peak gobbling, etc) between these two latitudes (34.9 and 36.5 degrees). I do not think one can paint the whole state of TN with a broad brush and accurately depict what the turkeys are doing at one certain time, same goes for our deer and the rut.Roost 1 said:I think some years the breeding has not started in TN at first of season.

I just wish I could hunt the 31st. Even though I am retired, I have an obligation on that day.JCDEERMAN said:muddyboots said:I wish we could hunt today.
