Sawtooth spacing

I would also plant them in groves or plots. Space 30 feet apart and use tree guards for faster growth.

We have one area with 58 trees planted on a five acre spot. This will be a hot spot when the acorns start to produce. We scattered 2000 trees over 1500 acres. Planted these last 58 on a hill which was our worst place to plant and it will become our best place to hunt. The problem is it will be hard to hunt.

Plan where you will hunt and plant accordingly.

Forestry department put my 500 in at 12' spacing (as with 2500 other oaks). That is close for mature trees, but there will be some attrition. I'll likely thin after the contract expires.
