Scattering turkeys in the spring?

I got there this morning and found a note on my blind! The landowners have leased the hunting rights to someone else. There goes my season there at least. I can hunt next door but that may prove fruitless.

Sounds like you don't have many other options. At least you know you are close to birds. Stay persistent!

Go out at about 3 in the morning, dig a shallow depression in the middle of the field, cover up with something and just lay there and wait for them to fly down and come out there.

Pop up and pop 'em :D

I thought about that! The other thing is I have a ghillie suit. I could just lay down out there and be still until they get close enough to pop one! :D

My last futile attempt there was to go in there with no blind, no decoy, a couple calls in my pocket, and my ghillie suit. I think my calling, blinds, and my decoys are keeping them away from me. I was thinking of setting up on this little point of land in my suit and just trying to gently coax one within range of my crossbow. Last year I tried everything there except just sitting still on the ground without calling. That is a lot like ambushing, but these jokers don't play fair! :D

I'm hoping my partner has gotten my buddy has my hunting site back for me. That guy's cows graze on his land.

I only have one other potential spot. I saw a flock there while I was coyote hunting. There is a lot of turkey sign near the top of this ridge and I've bumped them while coyote hunting there a few weeks ago. I may try and roost it tonight.
